The Project

What we did.

Lüderitz sits where the Namib desert meets the South Atlantic, and the air there is hard on electrical work. Salt gets into everything. Fittings and fixings that would last twenty years in Windhoek corrode far faster on that coast, so material choice stops being a detail and becomes the whole job.

The waterfront development ran across several buildings and two years. The centrepiece was the historic Old Power Station — a heritage structure now housing the Namibia Maritime Museum, where new electrical work had to be threaded through an old steel-framed building without spoiling what makes it worth keeping. Alongside it we wired the guest rooms, the offices, and the laundry.

In Detail

Wiring on the coast.

01

Heritage building

New services routed through the Old Power Station's original structure, kept visible where that suited the building and hidden where it did not.

02

Museum lighting

Display and track lighting for the Maritime Museum's exhibits and model collection.

03

Corrosion-aware specification

Materials and fittings chosen for salt air, because on that coast the wrong choice fails in a couple of years.

04

Guest rooms

Full installation to the waterfront's guest accommodation.

05

Offices and boardroom

Including the feature ceiling and cove lighting in the development company's own boardroom.

06

Laundry

Heavy-duty power for commercial laundry equipment, which draws far more than an ordinary building.
